The Battle Rifle is a UNSC affiliated weapon. This weapon was introduced in Halo 2 as a replacement for the Assault Rifle. It is an ideal weapon for medium, and sometimes long-range battle due to its three round burst and its considerable clip/ammo capacity. Taking a minimum of four bursts to kill someone, it is arguably the most efficient all-around weapon. It is the starting weapon in all MLG gametypes and one of the most used weapons in the game.

Halo 2

Halo 2's version of the Battle Rifle was a bit different. In essence, it was overpowered. It's accuracy was higher, the burst rate was faster, and it was an instant hit weapon (meaning you wouldn't have to lead your shots at all). There was also a few glitches associated with the Battle Rifle in Halo 2, including "double-shooting", "BXRing", and "BXBing". All of these took skill to perfect, and were commonly used by high-leveled players. The glitches were even allowed in MLG Pro Circuit tournaments.

Tips

A basic tip for the battle rifle is the four shot. The four shot is the least amount of shots you have to put into an opponent to kill them. To increase your chance of a four shot, aim for your opponent's head or upper chest. Another, arguably easier way to get a four shot is to shoot for the stomach area for three of your shots and then aim for the head for the final shot.
