The Brute Plasma Rifle is a weapon exclusive to Halo 2 and Halo 3: ODST. It was basically the same as the normal Plasma Rifle, except for two factors. It was stronger, but it overheated faster. Also, instead of being blue like the normal Plasma Rifle, it was red. Both of the Plasma Rifles are extremely effective at taking down opponent's shields. When dual-wielded with a weapon such as the SMG, it creates a lethal combo, one weapon for taking down the shields, the other for killing them off.
