Elites
From Halo - Wiki on Neoseeker
Elites, or the Sangheili, are the more intelligent race of the Covenant troops and are the more battle trained. The Elites are, as their name implies, elite warriors in battle. They consist of the highest ranked officers in the first two games as well as the novels. Only the high ranking elites are permitted to wield the deadly Energy Sword. Elites are 7 feet tall, and their armor signifies their rank.
In combat the Elites have significant shields protecting them. In campaign mode in particular, the enemy Elites in difficulties above Normal have more shields, and their shields recharge quickly when damaged or depleted.
Elites also come in differing varieties, including Honour Guards, and others.
In Halo 2, The Elite's split off from the Covenant and become Separatists. You are able to play as the Arbiter in campaign and as Elites on XBL or LAN.
In Halo 3, the Arbiter and many Elites help you and you may play as an elite in Halo 3 co-op Campaign or on XBL/LAN.
Several important Elites include the Shipmaster and the Arbiter.
Trivia
- In Halo 1, the Elite's Energy Sword was not available for use. It had a failsafe mechanism that destroyed it when its carrier died. In the following games, it was available for use, however.
