Covenant Shade

Shades are rather large mounted turrets that are used by the Covenant. In Halo they were simple turrets with no rounded ring with just a gunner seat and 3 plasma turrets mounted on the front for dealing with incoming infantry and the occasional light vehicle. In Halo 3 they have been upgraded to be a bit less versatile and a bit more heavily armed. The Shade now encases the gunner as a whole, leaving them protected from the front and rear and open to the sides. It is still mounted, but is instead on a 360 degree ring allowing it to maneuver better than its predecessor. It is mostly seen in Campaign for Halo 3 and not featured by default in any of the maps. The only known way to get a shade turret is to Mod.
